Non-stop
and direct flights to Roatan International Airport are
available on United through Houston and Delta from
Atlanta. American Airlines will begin direct flights
from Miami into Roatan on Saturdays in November 2012.
There are also good connections from most gateway
cities to San Pedro Sula on mainland Honduras. Please
check the airline websites for flight times. Charter
flights also operate at times of the year from Canada
and Italy.
TACA has frequent flights into Roatan with connections through the mainland every other day of the week.
United Airlines is a TACA partner and miles are
interchangable.
Spirit Air serves San Pedro Sula from Ft.
Lauderdale.

You must have a passport valid for six months to fly to Roatan from the United States.
Roatan Airport Information
Roatans airport is near Coxen Hole. Upon departure, there
is a Honduran departure fee of around $32, which
includes security and immigration fees.
The ride from the airport to Castaways Cove is
approximately 25 minutes.
Ferryboat Information
The Galaxy Wave ferry travels between Roatan and La Ceiba,
the closest city on the Honduras mainland, some 30 miles away.
The high speed catamaran ferry takes about 1 hour and
15 minutes for this journey. The ferry has an
air-conditioned seating area downstairs, an upstairs
first class cabin and outside seating. A new ferry
dock just west of French Harbour opened in 2006.
The ferry schedule and fares are subject to change without notice (and they usually do!).
The ferry fare is around $20 for adults and $10
for children.

Currency
U.S. dollars are accepted on Roatan. They are generally exchanged in the supermarkets for a good rate.
Credit cards are accepted in most places, however there is usually an extra service charge added to the bill.
ATMs are available at Eldons grocery, the airport and
most banks. There is now a LaFise Bank branch at the
Roatan airport for easy money exchange. |
